The Biography of the great west african scholar from timbuktu muhammad aT-Tayyib al ansaaree at-timbuktee rahimahullaahu

Muhammad altayyib the son of isHaaq from the descendants of the anSaar of the prophet muhammad sallAllaahu alaihi wa sallam born in the city of Timbuktu in the district of al maraaqid in the greater african sahara in the year 1296 a.h. and in it he was raised and grew, after reaching his 8th year his father passed and a group of his relatives took up his care, he memorized the quran and went on to sit in the circles of the scholars of his area.
after fighting the French imperialist colonial powers he made hijra to madinah in the year 1323 a.h. and from there left to makkah to devote himself to worship, zuhd, reciting the qur'aan, and reviewing the islamic and arabic sciences. But he did not remain there long until he returned to madinah to remain, there he taught in the prophet's masjid teaching the sciences of the arabic language, fiqh, and tafseer and in the year 1341 a.h. he was appointed head of the teachers of the prophet's masjid

He then became connected with Madrasatul-uloomi-l-shar'iyyah, and took the position of president over its teachers at the bequest of its founder and head aHmad al-faiDabaadee, he continued to teach and write until his passing in the year 1362 after the hijrah of our beloved messenger. he was buried in al baqee' and the funeral prayer in absentia was prayed for him in makka and riyaaDH

the shaykh was one of the great scholars of madinah of his time and one of its great faqeehs he was known for taqwaa wara' zuhd and knowledge of the religion and many of his students are accomplished scholars in their own regard amongst them ismaa'eel hifdhee, muhamad umar baree, alee haafidh, uthmaan haafidh, ubaid madani etc..
the shaykh was known for his ability to compose poetry on islamic subjects and extending this ability to his students and encouraging them toput classic works and beneficial info into poem form

his student umar baree was a hanafee in fiqh and an accomplished poet. among his poetic works is a poem version of thalaathatul usool, He was also known for his skill at yashkari

The shaykh had ijaaza's in the 7 books the saHeeHaan the sunan and the muwatta'
at the end of this folio showing his chains back to the major books of hadeeth he advices sulaimaan as follows and i advize him with taqwaa and abstaining from argumentation and claims and to be unbiased in all affairs and to take efforts to affirm certainty in important affairs and to stick to saying i know not for that which he doesnt know. and ...
