Statements of the Salaf about the Sunnah being revelation

The noble taabi'ee Hassaan Ibn Atiyyah al-muhaaribee (by way of walaa') who passed sometime after the year 120 a.h. said " Jibreel (alaihi l-salaam) used to descend upon the Prophet with the sunnah just as he would descend upon him with the Qur'aan"
