Imaam Al-Shaatibee in his famous work entitled Al-I'tisaam quotes Yahyaa Ibn Mu'aadh Al-Raazee as saying : "All of mankind's differing reverts back to three fundamental issues, each of these fundamentals having an opposite; whoever misses one falls into its opposite:
tawheed its opposite being shirk
the sunnah its opposite being innovation
and obedience its opposite being disobedience".
