An Excerpt from Al-Tuhfah Al-Madaniyah by Hamad Aal-Mu'ammar

Shaykh Hamad Aal-mu'ammar in his treatise affirming the correct creed concerning the issue of Allaah's attributes brings the following narration about Aboo Haneefah

Imaam Al-Bayhaqee narrates in his book "al-Sifaat" on the authority of Na'eem ibn Hammaad saying I heard Nooh Ibn Abee Maryam state " I was in the company of Aboo Haneefah at the point when he first came out to the people (as a teacher), when a woman came to him from Tirmidh, and she used to accompany Jahm (Ibn Safwaan, the famous deviant) so it was that she entered Koofah. It was said to her, here is a man that has looked into the affairs of logic and the like and he is named Aboo Haneefah. She then came to him. She said to him : you are the man that teaches issues of fiqh while you have left your own religion, where is the deity that you worship?

Aboo Haneefah remained silent, remaining seven days without responding to her. He then came out to us and placed down a book affirming that Allaah is above the heavens and not on earth.

So a man said to him " have you not seen the statement of Allaah ( and He is with you wherever you may be) [Al-Hadeed 4].

He responded : It is as you write to someone : I am with you, while you are absent from him".
