Throughout the recent popular uprisings in the Arab world that were triggered by Wikilinks I have met with an overwellming agreement among arabs in America that this is a positive thing and is justified and necissary and often I find myself hearing " He's been ruler too long" or even "30 years what does He think he is God".
Perhaps the most glarringly unislamic responses I've heard as a rebuttal to clear texts found in the Qur'aan and authentic sunnah is one that was given by a brother from Morroco after I mentioned to him quite a number of clear hadeeth on the subject: "well look at the French revolution and what great good it opened up for France and Europe" this ironically enough comming from a man from a country that was Colonized by the French themselves.
